Driver Training Vehicles

Skidmaster - Skid Control Training System
The new skidmaster vehicle represents a major step forward in advanced driver training replacing the flawed system of standard 'skidpan' and widely used 'skidframe'.

The vehicle replicates all types of skid situations and their correct recoveries, at all speeds, starting at low speeds for the beginner and progressing to higher speeds for the advanced pupil.

It can be used on any site large or small without the need for special chemical treatments and the environmental problems that these will create.

The vehicle can train front and rear driving techniques, and the degree of slipperyness effect of the road surface can be controlled by the instructor within the programming of the system.

Skidmaster - Unlimited Vehicle Choice
The system can be fitted to any vehicle type and is based around  computer controlled hydraulic front and rear wheel steering of the vehicles own wheels.

Irrespective of the driving wheels of the vehicle fitted with the system, Skidmaster can enable the instructor to train the student in both front and rear wheel drive techniques in the same vehicle.

In the hands of a trained instructor the system will:

  • replicate all skid situations and correct recoveries;
  • demonstrate locked wheels under braking, braking understeer, power understeer, oversteer, secondary oversteer, power oversteer and combinations of the above situations.

Skidmaster - The Driver Training Advantage
With Skidmaster it is not necessary to enter an exercise at high speed in order to initiate a skid, the Skidmaster system will operate at any speed, walking pace upward.

Skidmaster cars can be operated in the proximity of noise sensitive areas as the car does not produce excessive tyre noise as the 'skidframe' does.

Tyre wear is much reduced over 'skidframe' techniques as the tyres are steered and not sliding, this removes the need to have large quantities of used tyre at the training site to cover the usage and failure rate of the 'skidframe'.

Skidmaster Skid Control Vehicles Skidmaster - Constant Development
The new Skidmaster system is much improved over earlier versions, the early prototypes have been completely re-worked and re-engineered to a much higher standard using the latest in computer technology and aircraft standard componentry to ensure many years of trouble free operation.

For owners of earlier models we offer a complete upgrade to the current specification fitted into a new vehicle on an exchange basis for a much reduced cost.
